Gillian & Mark were married on the 15th of September 2012 at Hotel Bannatyne, Darlington. We’ve always found Bannatyne’s to be a really great place to photograph weddings, it is a Grade II listed town house but with a modern touch in the decor giving us plenty of photographic opportunities.
When we arrived we made our way to the room where Gillian and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Everyone was very excited, if a little nervous, and couldn’t wait for the big day to begin! Gillian’s Mum was busy lacing up Gillian’s dress which she had bought, along with the shoes and tiara from Sense Of Style and everyone had a smile on their faces when they saw how beautiful she looked. The two flower girls, Gillian’s niece and Mark’s niece, looked as pretty as a picture and we couldn’t resist a photographic opportunity using the beautiful, natural window light in the room. Gillian’s bridesmaids wore dresses in a rich purple colour from Debenhams and all the outfits were finished off with beautiful flowers from Star Flowers of Barnard Castle.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Mark and his groomsmen seemed really laid back and relaxed. We got some great shots of the boys in the lovely, grand entrance to Bannatyne’s and then it was soon time for the service to begin. Mark waited nervously as the bridesmaids walked in and the pause while Gillian composed herself must have seemed like an eternity to him! The service that followed was lovely and there were many tears of happiness amongst the guests!
Afterwards, everyone gathered outside and enjoyed a drink and a chat while we took more photographs of the happy couple, family groups and general shots of everyone enjoying themselves. The room looked beautiful when it was time for the wedding breakfast with decoration from Wildchild’s of Darlington.
Gillian & Mark were keen to have photographs of their evening reception as well as during the day, so, having photographed the speeches before the meal, we returned later to capture the first dance and were thrilled with the effects that the coloured lights made.
Gillian & Mark were thrilled with their photographs and we are designing their album now.
