Beth and Gavin were married on 22nd December 2012 at St.Gabriel’s in Sunderland and had their reception at the Durham Marriott Royal County.
Beth and Gavin were dreaming of a bright, crisp winters day for their wedding day, however, the weather had other ideas. As we drove up the motorway towards Sunderland on the morning of their wedding through driving rain and with flooded fields either side, it became increasingly obvious that they weren’t going to get the weather that they hoped for!
We were so glad, when we arrived at Beth’s Mum’s house, to find Beth with a huge smile on her face and not a bit bothered by the rain! Beth’s Mum had adorned the staircase with flowers, bows and sparkle, lit special wedding day candles and her Christmas tree was wonderful, which helped to make such a happy, excited atmosphere. The house was a hive of activity and giggles and when Beth finally got into her dress from Rosina Brown of Stocksfield everyone commented on how beautiful she looked. The dress was a warm ivory colour which worked really well with Beth’s warm colourings and the look was completed with headdress, again from Rosina Brown of Stocksfield, shoes from Dune and flowers by Jan Watters of Cleadon. Beth’s bridesmaids wore royal blue dresses from Heart of Durham Bridalwear which gave a wintry feel with their white bouquets. Beth also had two page boys and a flower girl who were fantastically well behaved throughout the whole day!
When we arrived at the church, there was no let up with the driving rain and everyone was dashing in under umbrellas, coats or anything else they had to hand! Gavin seemed quite nervous but looked very smart in his suit from Debenhams and soon got into the swing of things. The church looked wonderful, with a huge Christmas tree and white paper doves draped over the alter.
Beth arrived in style with GW Holmes Cars, a professional team which we have the pleasure of working with on a regular basis. She was practically carried into church by her Dad while her brother and the guys from GW Holmes formed a walkway under their umbrellas! There was no way that Beth’s dress was getting wet with such a great team to protect it!
The service was lovely with a reading from Beth’s brother, Jonathan and everyone had a laugh when the best man forgot his cue to hand over the rings! We were grateful, afterwards, that the church provided such a lovely setting for the groups as there was no way that we were doing them outside anywhere!
When we arrived at The Royal County it was great to see lots of Christmas sparkle everywhere and Beth was eager to see their snow themed reception room. The room looked beautiful with fairy lights-a-plenty, floral table decorations by Jan Watters and a lovely cake with a snowflake design by Truly Crumbtious of Newton Aycliffe.
We then photographed Beth and Gavin around the hotel, aiming for a warm, cosy feel which we achieved using natural light and the many beautiful Christmas trees that we encountered. While we took photographs around the hotel, guests were entertained by Jeff Dingle and the Mood Swing Trio in the bar who sounded fantastic and really got a party atmosphere started.
Having enjoyed their first Christmas as a married couple and had a wonderful honeymoon in Paris, Beth and Gavin came to see their photographs today and were so pleased with the results.
